While in law school, Taylor was a member of the Tennessee Law Review where she served as the Acquisition’s Editor and earned the Staff Editor Award from her Law Review peers. She served on Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law and authored The Morrill Act of 1862: It’s Generational Impact on Higher Education, reflecting on the University of Tennessee as a land grant institution. She earned the CALI Award for Excellence in three classes: Legal Process, Contract Drafting and Estate Planning Seminar. She served as a Student Attorney and as a Teaching Assistant in the Homer A. Jones, Jr. Wills Clinic, and as a Student Attorney in the Transactional Law Clinic. She held the office of Treasurer for the Student Bar Association and was selected as the student representative to the Dean’s Academic Standards and Curriculum Committee. During the summers, Taylor worked as a law clerk for Elmore, Stone and Caffey.

As an undergraduate, Chancellor Plowman selected Taylor as a Torchbearer, the highest student honor conferred by the University of Tennessee and the Provost’s highest honor, the Volunteer of Distinction Professional Promise Award. She was the President and Founder of Women of Haslam and served as the President of Mortar Board and the Order of Omega. Taylor was a Haslam College of Business, Smith Global Leadership Scholar, a Leadership Knoxville Scholar, a Student Alumni Associate, and a Student Government Association Representative.
